We are a professional baseball team located in the Capital District of New York, more specifically, Troy. Each year we offer multiple Education Day games which are special matinee games aimed to incorporate learning with the game of baseball. We create a unique curriculum that covers things from spending money at the concession stand, geography and location of our opponents, baseball terminology and more. For these games we reach out to all of our local schools and invite them to attend this game which is typically $12 per person and includes admission as well as a lunch. We kick off the game with an Anti-Bullying peace pledge, and the concourse features tables from our sponsors with STEM centric activities. Many schools attend each of these games and look for assistance to ensure they can be a part of it.

The NYSCLSA Conference is the annual statewide student leadership conference organized by the New York State Council on Leadership and Student Activities (NYSCLSA). Here are the key details about the conference: Primary Goal: To develop leadership skills in high school and middle school students across New York State. Participants: A diverse group of student leaders, typically from student councils, National Honor Society (NHS), and similar organizations, along with their advisors. The NYSCLSA organization is founded and governed by both students and advisors, who play an essential role in planning the annual conference and other state and local leadership activities The NYSCLSA conference’s Student Leadership Program strongly aligns with the New York State P-12 Learning Standards for the Arts by engaging students in the four artistic processes. By requiring students to create, develop, and produce public service announcements (PSAs), the program fulfills the Creating and Performing/Presenting/Producing standards, particularly in Media Arts and Theatre. Furthermore, the workshops on communication and critical thinking, along with keynote speakers on school climate and culture, address the Responding standard by teaching students to analyze and interpret artistic intent, and the Connecting standard by urging them to synthesize their work with personal experiences and societal context. Essentially, the conference uses the creation and presentation of media as a practical vehicle for developing key leadership and critical thinking skills mandated by the NYS arts curriculum.

Un-flamazing girls get nutsy, but! Flamaze girls? Stomp-stomp-stomp get GUTSY!

We offer an indoor/outdoor museum experience crafted to align with NY history and social studies standards by exploring the relationship of this early transportation system to geography, history, economics, government, westward movement, and industrialization. For instance, 4th graders will leave with an understanding of: 4.1 Geography of New York State & Maps—Why the route chosen for canal? What mountain range was in the way?; 4.3d American Revolution—It was the War of 1812 that created an energy crisis in the United States when England cut off our supply of coal; 4.5c Civil War—The canal brought coal to power the Union Navy ships. Tanning leather into soldiers’ boots meant increased business/traffic on the canal. The canal was a major contributor to the Union effort. And much more! Group visits are offered Tuesday-Thursday when the museum isn’t open to the public We can accommodate groups up to 40. Depending on the time of year we can accommodate larger groups by dividing them between our galleries and the grounds outside. WORKING LOCK MODEL: students can open and close the lock gates and release or add water to the lock to see technology in action - how else to get barges up and down steep inclines? WEATHER PERMITTING:? 5-LOCKS WALK: Enjoy a shaded walk outdoors on the towpath past five carved stone locks built as part of the 1850 expansion. Illustrated interpretive signs greet towpath users along the way. LUNCH: A flat grassy area next to the quay is available for a picnic lunch schools bring with them. Students may sit on reclaimed snubbing posts, once used to secure barges. CAPTAIN SAYS! Elementary grades love an active game of “Captain Says” which teaches canal terminology. GO HOME WITH AFTER-VISIT ACTIVITIES TARGETED FOR 4TH, 7TH, AND 11TH GRADES.

I love to share the process of book illustration. With PowerPoint, I start by sharing slides of my childhood journey as an illustrator. People need to know that they can succeed even if they experience setbacks. I emphasize hard work, patience, and continuing learning. I show various slides of personal drawings and artwork along with the many steps involved in making a picture book, such as reviewing the manuscript, researching, sketching, and creating artwork. In addition, I may bring sketchbooks, original artwork, and various visual aids for the audience to see firsthand to understand my work better. My presentation lasts 35-45 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. Presentations will be adjusted according to grade level. I can do up to three presentations per day of the visit.

Our educational programs allow learners of all ages to see live birds of prey up-close and to learn about the impressive adaptations and behaviors of these remarkable birds. We also discuss the conservation issues that impact them and how to make a difference. Several different Birds of Prey programs are available with discussion on the various species behaviors and habitats along with hands-on learning with real feathers, talons and bones, as well as information on local wildlife, wildlife rehabilitation and what to do if you find injured or orphaned wildlife. In addition, we offer owl pellet dissection programs, we bring one owl (who sits on his perch supervising during the presentation). We talk about the owl and the pellet process and then move on to dissecting. We provide the pellets, plates to dissect on, diagrams to help identify the bones and baggies to take home their discoveries. All programs are designed according to the audience. Special requests are always considered.

High Rollers Roller Skating in Amsterdam, NY offers S.T.E.M. Educational Field Trips and Incentive Skating Trips for schools. Our program features seven hands-on, interactive lessons that align with New York State learning standards, covering science, technology, engineering, and math through the science of roller skating.
